Septic Tank Treatment Options – RID-X Versus NORWECO Bio-Gem Review

As a homeowner, I always had trouble with my septic tank system.  Due to various issues, I had to pump my septic tank every one to two years.  Around the year 2000, this was not a big issue in that pumping costs were about $100.  Septic tank pumping costs are now about $350 for a 1200 gallon septic.  This high-cost and the inconvenience of having to pump forced me to look at septic tank additives.  From the year 2002 about 2005, I tried many septic tank additives.  Septic tank treatment additives that I tried included RID-X and numerous other liquid additives.

All the standard commercial additives available, most notably RID-X, barely extended the time between pump intervals.  In addition, noticeable odor from my septic tank and floor drains were prevalent when I used RID-X in these other products.  As a licensed wastewater engineer, I felt that I could do better.  My research led me to start using NORWECO Bio-Gem organic digester.  I started using Bio-Gem in the summer of 2006.  Since using Bio-Gem organic digester, I have not had to pump my septic tank for over six years now.  One side benefit that I see in using the NORWECO Bio-Gem organic digester is the elimination of the rotten egg smell, which I had up to this point.

In addition, I had clogging line problems from the house to the septic tank.  My wife routinely poured bacon grease another oils down my sink drains.  These greases clogged my line from my house my septic tank.  I troubleshot this problem with a sewer camera prior to and after using Bio-Gem.  Over a couple months, the Bio-Gem product digested all the grease buildup in the line.  I have had no further problem with this line clogging.

Sewage Wastewater Chlorine Tablet Feeder Design Considerations

By: Bruce Hardboss, PE

This article discusses minimum sewage wastewater chlorine-tablet-feeder design considerations.  As a wastewater engineer, I routinely see application of wastewater tablet feeders for chlorination designs that are not well thought out.  This article will highlight the NORWECO tablet feeder designs since we feel that the NORWECO tablet feeders are the best on the market.  The principles that we present are recommendations for you to implement in your design.

Feeder Tube

Tablet feeders generally have some sort if tube which is filled with the chlorine tablets.  The tube is easily removed for re-filling.  As noted in the figure below, the tube is slotted on the bottom, which allows the wastewater to contact the chlorine tablets, dissolving them, and thusly chlorinated in the wastewater stream.  The tube feeder product that you select should have a removable tube, such as the NORWECO design.

Tiered flow

The second design consideration should include some sort of tiered flow.  As in the figure above, as the flow is increased the width and depth of the tiered flow should also be increased.  This allows for, under low flow conditions, wetting of only the first tablet in the tablet tube.  This tiered flow design significantly reduces the rate that the tablets are expended.  In addition, under low flow conditions better chlorination due to contact with the first tablet is achieved.  The tablet feeder that you select should have a tiered flow design.

Tiered Flow Considerations

Warrantee.

Tablet feeder that you select should also have a minimum warranty of 20-years.  Tablet feeders that come with a 20-year warranty, generally, are made from superior materials that resist corrosion, cracking and deterioration.  So if the tablet feeder that you select does not have a 10-year warranty.  I would suspect that the materials used are substandard.

Installation

The NORWECO tablet feeders also come within a unique feature.  At the base of the tablet feeder holding tube, 4 inch PVC piping can be glued or sealed on the top of the tablet feeder.  This feature allows you to bury the tablet feeder deeper than the standard riser tubes.  The PVC piping thickness can be increased to schedule 80, which allows for superior protection of the feeder riser tubes from the surrounding soil.  Alternatively, the NORWECO IT series tablet feeders include plastic direct burial risers, which are generally used in commercial applications. As we increase daily wastewater flow-rates, the tablet feeders increase the number of tablet feeder tubes, as noted in the figure below:

Increased Number of Chlorine Tubes With Increased Flow Rates

Conclusions

As you shop around for your next tablet feeder, we strongly recommend the NORWECO line of products.  NORWECO is been in operation for over 100 years.  NORWECO’s products are seasoned, and continuously improved.  If you are considering purchasing or installing a tablet feeder in your present system, then please consider the designs options that we have presented in this article.  If you are interested in our NORWECO products, please click on any one of the images in this article, or merely go to the NORWECO products page on this website.  Our recommendations are written by a registered professional engineer with a strong background in wastewater engineering.

Shenyang People & 39;s Congress hard to check the water source protection around occupied – clean wat

Article by jekky

How to strengthen the protection of water sources to ensure that people drink clean water? Rain season, rainfall increases Sewage Over sewage treatment plant capacity, storm water, sewage “evil deeds” how do? Water reuse rate is not high, even to elapse, resulting in waste of water resources how to do? Nearly 1000 tons of sludge produced per day, currently only landfill deal to do, how to avoid secondary pollution? Recently, the Secretary-General Zhang Ning Shenyang People’s Congress Standing Committee to the city’s fourth session of the sixteenth session, “The People’s Republic of China Water Pollution Control Act, “law enforcement inspection, it attracted attention not only to the implementation of the Water Pollution Control Act of specific measures, more problems are present and how to solve these problems. Protection of water sources is difficult, four occupied Law enforcement inspection Shenyang Municipal People’s Congress Environment Research and Resources Protection Committee found that some water to the surrounding land from the original agricultural land into the existing residential land and commercial land. With the growing number of new projects, a few residents in well protected areas surrounding the construction of water toilets, set up the battlefield and other irregularities, as a new source of pollution. According to statistics, Shenyang City, the 34 existing drinking water source, water source protection zone there are four occupied land, occupied an area of about 149,000 square meters. 2009 11 18, I went with the law enforcement inspection team Yuhong District, Shenyang City, a water conservation area, where illegal dredging or excavating soil for the formation of landfill, is a serious threat to the protection of water resources area. “Not only drinking water sources around the serious pollution problems, and protection system lags behind. Once the water has broken, the outcome would be Disaster . “Shenyang Municipal People’s Congress deputy chairman of the Central Information Chen Suyu worried. Representatives Return Weapon Shenyang People’s Congress Director Zhao Changyi: strict standards for project approval, pay attention to water sources from pollution prevention and control at source, rather less cover two floors, and let the people drink clean water! Must not sacrifice the environment in exchange for economic development. Liaoyang NPC Environmental and Resources Committee chairman Wan Ying: The existence of hidden water sources to carry out concentration and control, preparation of source protection area planning and reasonable delineation of protected areas, improve the city’s ability to respond to emergencies, as soon as possible “in Shenyang City water source protection area regulations “to ensure that source protection area is not occupied, to ensure that the masses Safe drinking water . Chen Suyu: financial investment in increasing the intensity of the same time, the city government to actively coordinate and apply for national and provincial government for funds for investment in infrastructure, improve water-supply. Rain and sewage diversion is difficult, Francis lead pollution Law enforcement inspection 2009 At the beginning of the core built-up area for 370 square kilometers, 66% for the confluence of mixed and scattered row of the problems He Wenjiang and many other deputies that “on the transformation of urban drainage systems, the implementation of rain and sewage diversion, improve centralized sewage treatment ability “and three motions. 2009 11 18, I went with the law enforcement inspection group Canal outfall. According to staff, due to rain and sewage are not diverted, Shenyang City, the drainage system are through the South Canal, the North Canal, and health workers open channel of sewage discharge. Normally, the sewage through the sewage treatment plant, town water to reach the national emission standards for waste water treatment plant. However, the peak of every rain, particularly heavy rain season, a large number of river mud was washed from the turbulent flow, cause serious pollution. “Shenyang is imperative to the implementation of rain and sewage diversion. Or spend more money, build more sewage treatment plants are difficult to cope.” Law enforcement inspection team members reach a consensus.

Cleaning Waste Water

A lot of changes happen in time including the progression of societies and the improvement of procedures for our survival. The effective gathering and recycling of water is necessary for water has always been vital to our existence. When it comes to the technology of waste water management, there have been a lot of changes through the years.

There were waste water management systems in ancient times but what we have today are more modern not to mention more effective. We are able to enjoy a better understanding of effective systems thanks to the way our forefathers treated water before. This article will allow you to be in the know when it comes to the basics of modern waste water management.

Waste water is treated and cleaned out of the harmful contaminants that it contains through the process of waste water management or sewage treatment. Water is used daily and this results to waste water. A lot of waste water actually comes from household sewage and industrial operators.

It is waste water management that is meant to satisfy the need for sanitation for the benefit of public health. When it comes to diseases like cholera and typhoid fever, contaminated water is mostly to blame. Also meant for the general health of the society, we resort to waste water management procedures to protect our water resources considering how water is vital in our lives.

Through the years, our water supply has dwindled and this is why we need to recycle it as much as possible. When it comes to the water supply around the world, the United Nations World Water development report back in 2003 predicted a 30 to 40% decrease for the next 20 years. When these statistics come into play, crucial are more effective ways to manage waste water.

In terms of waste water management, how does it work? In this case, you will be dealing with four fundamental steps although the location of the treatment facility is pretty important. With regard to stage one, it is the pre-treatment process.

The water is strained, screened, and analyzed in this stage. In this case, the waste water may contain debris like leaves, branches, and stones and these should be removed. There are times when the waste water originates from an industrial factory and in this case, the pre-treatment process removes the grease and lubricants that were combined with the water.

After going through the pre-treatment process, the waste water is analyzed and then it heads off to primary treatment. Normally, the waste water sediments sink at the bottom of primary clarifier tanks and the grease and oils float. After this comes the removal of the sediments at the bottom and the floating grease and then chemicals will be used to treat the water for any leftover bacteria.

For the third step in waste water management, they make sure that the water is safe, safe enough to release into designated grounds and other natural bodies of water. The water will contain harmful microorganisms and the introduction of chemicals to remove them is the third stage. In terms of waste water management, the fourth stage is disinfection.

A lot of people resort to the usage of chlorine especially when the goal is to produce clean potable water. People are still looking for methods by which waste water can be managed and this is because we have a lot of environmental issues to deal with today. We have an effective system today but people are hoping for greener and more practical methods that can be used to deal with water.
